  5. 1.1 Installation

  7. Jedit3.0 is provided as a compressed file through Internet sites, bulletin board services, and CD-ROMs supplied with magazines. There are two program types for Jedit3.0 - One is for Power Macintoshes, and another is for older Macintoshes (68K).

  12. In both files, "302" represents the revision number.  The file name you get may or may not contain the number "302."

  14. Files are compressed in CompactPro self-expand archive format. You can expand the file by double clicking on its icon or by using expansion software such as CompactPro or StuffIt Expander.  This will create a "Jedit3.0 Folder" icon, which you can then move wherever you want.

  20. Once this folder is created, installation is complete.

  31. 1.2 Starting Up

  33. To start up Jedit3.0, double click on the following Jedit icon in the Jedit3.0 Folder.

  35. If you have not yet registered, the following dialog box will appear.

In order to register, double click on the URL, http://www.matsumoto.co.jp/.  This will connect you to the Internet automatically, and your default web browser will display our web site.  If you do not want to register online, you may print and fill out the Application Form in the file "Registration" and send it to us by FAX or regular mail.

  44. Within a few days of registering, you will receive a "User Name" and "Registration Code" by an e-mail. Type your "User Name" and "Registration Code" in the dialog box.  After completing this step, the dialog box will no longer appear.

  46. If you want to try using the software before registering, simply click on "Use on Trial Basis". It may take a few seconds for Jedit3.0 to start-up.

  48. If you have not registered after 20 days of using Jedit3.0, the following dialog box will appear whenever you open document windows.

  52. Full functions of Jedit3.0 are available regardless of whether 20 days have passed. However, if you continue using Jedit3.0 after 20 days, we request a shareware fee to help pay for our development costs and customer support. We appreciate your support and understanding on this matter.

  58. 1.3  Version and Revision Number of Jedit3.0

  60. There are two versions of Jedit3.0.  One is for Power Macintoshes, and the another is for older Macintoshes (68K). Both versions of Jedit3.0 have the same file name and icon.

  62. To find out which version you are using, select "About Jedit3.0..." from the Apple Menu. The following window will appear, displaying information about your Jedit3.0 version and revision number.

  66. In the above example, the version being used is Jedit3.0 for Power Macintosh, and the revision number is "3.0.1".
